Translator’s Work in Johannesburg

Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and one of the largest in the entire African continent. But its inner life isn’t as prosperous as it might seem at first glance — glance into which modern skyscrapers of its business center fall.

Neither a sea, nor a river, nor even a lake — there is any shoreline near Johannesburg, so the economic capital of South Africa is rightfully considered one of the largest metropolitan areas of the world, based away from water. This largest city of the Republic of South Africa is often mistaken for its capital, but it’s not: the capital — the city of Pretoria, which is nearby (less than 60 km), and Johannesburg is the center of the province of Gauteng. This smallest province of South Africa (1.4% of the total area of the country) is considered the most economically developed.

On these lands the climate is arid, and the structure of the plateau resembles steps that gradually rise from the valleys of Limpopo, which flows into the Indian Ocean, to the Draconian Mountains (3,482 m) stretching along the southeastern part of the country. The High Weld plateau, on which Johannesburg is located, in its northern part (the Witwatersrand mountain range), hides the large and extremely important deposits of gold, diamonds and uranium important for the South African economy — a guarantee of South Africa’s economic growth and the prosperity of Johannesburg itself, which became the center of world trade in gold and diamonds.

Formation of the business center of the city was completed by the 1970s. Most of the mining companies in South Africa have their head offices here. And the Johannesburg Stock Exchange is the most important in Africa and one of the leading in the world. Diamonds and gold, the very idea of wealth are the main tourist brands.

Translation services

The most developed industries in Johannesburg, where translation services from English to Russian may be required, are:

• mining (diamonds and gold), processing — a variety of aspects, from exploration of minerals and development of deposits to the underground construction of mining facilities and methods of processing minerals;
• steel casting, cement — translation of drawings (excavation, foundation, metal structures, floors, life support systems);
• financial, banking — bank documentation and nonbank documentation relating to insurance, stock exchange, investments, securities etc.;
• transportation, trade, tourism — translation of web-sites, menu, brochures, accompanying documents to goods — invoices, orders, waybills, packing lists etc.

More than 10 million foreigners learn Russian as a foreign language, recognizing that the task is very difficult. Those who came to our country and plunged into the language environment begin to speak freely in about two years. This refers to the correct use of idioms (stable expressions), declensions and cases, fluent oral speech and marked lack of emphasis. But how Russian can be taught by people who don’t have the opportunity to go to Russia? To do this, there are services of a remote tutor, who will gladly teach everyone who wants to learn Russian by Skype and help to master all the moments of the Russian language.

Jennifer Morel, Australia

I was impressed by quality and speed of this Service. It is unreal, but it is truth.

Justin Diaz, Mexico

At first I was afraid to pay for such services, but when I saw testimonials on the website I decided to take a chance. Now I have no doubts: next time I will apply to this company!
